Happy Holiday's everyone..
well while most people in the music business "phone it in" after thanksgiving,
we work until December 22-23 every year..
(usually in a set of non stop daily writing sessions)

this month we are in the studio with The Clutch working on music for a few artists including Jaheim & a new artist The Clutch & Divine Mill have named Chris Lawrence

we came up with Jaheim, we met way back (around a decade ago) when he was still working on demos for his first album, and we were just starting to produce & write..

he would come all the way out to Brooklyn to hang out..with a half broken radio playing "really rough mixes" of his demos

It was easy to see at that time that he was an extreme talent..
it's so nice to see him enjoy his success

A WEEK IN THE LIFE - "part 1 - Record Shopping"

Like many hip hop & hip hop influenced producers we have a love for old dusty vinyl... Soul , Rock, Electronic, Hip Hop, Disco, Jazz and EVERYTHING in between...We had to get out and feed the need so we went to one of our favorite "quiet" record shopping spots in our own brooklyn HALCYON The Shop, in the trendy brooklyn area known as DUMBO (Down Under Manhattan Bridge Overpass)

we happened to go at of the many times they have the shop double as an "Art Gallery"
This day was the opening day of of:

A James Top One Man Show With Friends

James Top was a well known graffiti artist from East New York & Bed-Stuy. During a span of 30 years he's become a legend. This guy was a big part of this hip hop sub-culture (grafitti), look him up, theres a lot of his work online. I remember the T.O.P crew were KINGS of the J line in brooklyn, James, dondi, Hurst, In One..the pieces were awe inspiring!!

A WEEK IN THE LIFE - Writing sessions!!

here's a small pictorial of a typical work day for us
at "Da Mill" (Divine Mill's multi room recording facility)
we try to get in to the studio (in NJ) by about noon (we do live in brooklyn ya know)
Da Mill is currently 7 studio's and office space (still building more) in an over 10k square foot facility

today we are writing and producing new music for a multitude of artists and styles, so we have the talented Tahayah Lewis and Mark Wolff (New co-writers with DM) over to do some writing with us, (click their names to check them out)

Gettin' Out - Inspired in NY #2 (Urban fashion night)

So, Bombay Sapphire got together with Emil Wilbekin (Vibe Mag) and created a Week Long Celebration of Urban Art, Fashion, Film, Literature and Music During Black History Month

The week long event was called 'INSPIRED' IN NEW YORK, an extraordinary week long tribute to the wealth of urban talent in America today.

Emil Wilbekin, worked as as curator of 'INSPIRED' IN NEW YORK, which brings together a series of nightly events in an intimate 23rd Street location that has been temporarily re-designed as the ultimate SAPPHIRE LOUNGE and private performance space.

Each night was inspired by a particular field of creativity -- art, film, fashion, business, literature and music -- and is co-hosted by a leading urban icon who will honor the talent that has inspired them.

It was soooo much fun hanging out & seeing many of our friends & Industry acquaintances (sometime we get so busy working in the studio we don't get to see anyone anymore
